Concrete for Tecumseh Homes

Tecumseh is a Pottawatomie County town east of Norman, and homeowners who call concrete contractors in Tecumseh usually have an older home in town or a rural lot outside it. The 2020 census counted 6,302 residents. The town covers about 15 square miles at an elevation of about 1,037 feet. We pour and replace driveways, patios, walks, steps, stamped concrete and slabs for garages, shops and barns.

An 1891 land run town

A 320-acre site opened for settlement on September 23, 1891, in a land run, and the post office had opened five days earlier. A U.S. Army major named the town for the Shawnee chief Tecumseh. At statehood it was the county seat, until a countywide election moved the seat to Shawnee in 1930.

The population was 2,630 in 1960 and grew to 4,451 by 1970, then 5,123 in 1980 and 5,750 in 1990. Homes near the old downtown are older still. Concrete on those properties often includes worn drives, sunken stoops and walks that have been patched many times. We replace failed sections, match the finish and set the grade so water stops collecting where it did before.

After the 2010 tornado

On May 10, 2010, an EF3 tornado severely damaged homes on East Highland Street. Repaired and rebuilt homes on those blocks often have newer concrete next to older sections, and the joints between them can open up or shift. We can replace those transitions so drives and walks are level again.

Rural lots and shop slabs

Outside town, many Tecumseh homes sit on acreage with barns and metal buildings. Shop and barn slabs need thickness and reinforcement chosen for what will sit on them, and a base compacted well enough to carry it. Long driveways need truck access planned ahead and joints placed to control cracking. We walk the property with you before we quote.
