Concrete Work in Lexington
Lexington is a small, old river town in southern Cleveland County, and the concrete contractors in Lexington mostly work on houses that have stood for decades and on rural lots nearby. The city had 2,010 residents in 2020 and covers about 2.5 square miles. It sits about 16 miles south of Norman, with Purcell directly across the Canadian River. We pour and replace driveways, walks, steps, patios and slabs for garages, shops and sheds.
Planned before the Land Run
Lexington was planned before the Land Rush of 1889 and got its post office in 1890. It incorporated that year, dissolved after political infighting and incorporated again in 1892. It was named for Lexington, Kentucky. Before statehood in 1907, Wikipedia says it was a "whiskey town" that drew much of its business from dry Purcell across the river, and a distillery operated nearby from 1900 until statewide prohibition.
The population has hovered around 1,000 to 2,000 for more than a century, so the town has many older homes. Their front walks, steps and drives are often decades old, patched in places, with stoops that have settled and walks lifted by trees. We replace failed pieces and match the finish to what is left, or redo a whole front entry when most of it has worn out.
The river and the bridge
The Canadian River forms Lexington's western border and the McClain County line. The James C. Nance Memorial Bridge carries U.S. 77 and State Highway 39 across to Purcell. Built around 1938, it was rebuilt in 2019 as a four-lane concrete bridge. Lots near the river can stay wet after heavy rain, so we check how water moves across your property and set slab elevations and slope to keep water away from the house and garage.
Rural lots around town
Outside the small city limits, many homes in the Lexington area sit on acreage. Those properties need long driveways, shop and barn slabs, and wide pads for trailers and equipment. We walk the truck route before we quote, check for septic systems and soft ground, and plan pour sections and joints for long runs.

A long local history
In 1835, Major Richard B. Mason set up Camp Holmes north of the present town, where a treaty was signed. Painter Woody Crumbo and oilman Harold Hamm are among the people Wikipedia lists from Lexington. The state opened a treatment center here in 1971, later renamed the Joseph Harp Correctional Center, and began building the Lexington Assessment and Reception Center in 1976. Yes. We remove the old steps and form new ones with even risers and a landing, pitched slightly so water runs off.
Do you work on acreage outside Lexington?

How do you match new concrete to old?
New concrete starts lighter, but we match the broom finish, joint spacing and edge detail so it blends as it weathers.
